Heads up: Kawaii International is on this weekend and it’s all about the amazing world of Japanese desserts– both edible and wearable.
If those necklaces of the bleeding cakes I posted before didn’t totally turn you off to fake dessert, then tune in because these are far easier on the heart. During the show I came face to face with the most incredible thing ever….
A fake cake with a slice cut out was brought out to the table and as the cameras are rolling I`m standing over it, admiring how real it looks, when I peek over the missing slice part….
…and I see an iPhone camera peeking out from underneath it.
No.WAY.
The change on my face gave it away…I was like….”No…it can’t be what I think it is!”
I pick that thing up (it’s light, like foam!) and sure enough…
It, and the others, were made by “dessert accessories designer” AKA the world’s best clay patissier Erika Kisen. Her stuff is incredible, on par with sculpting.
After the show I picked up an iPhone case, albeit a slightly more conservative one. I took it with me to NYC last week with the primary goal to freak people out. And freak them out it did..especially waiters at restaurants. Mission accomplished.
My case with some pastries at the Crosby St Hotel. When I change to the 5S I`ll try and get a Vienna cake or something.

I am so interested with this “food couture” I’ve been seeing in your blog for months, M! I wanna do something like this like Filipino desserts too… that might be fun! ^_^
The obvious choices are q-pot etc of course, but now it’s taken on a whole new level of couture…!
