どうかしら。そうよ。ここがマイケルコースショーの特等席よ。

It actually never happened. THIS is how I saw the show (cry):

さ、…さっきの特等席は忘れて、本当はここからショーを見ていたわ。泣

Let’s rewind….

シーンを水曜日の朝から巻き戻そう…

One of the major differences between New York and Tokyo? Aggression. Motivation. In New York, if you wait for the light to turn green even if there are no cars, you’re crazy (it’s like…are you all there?). In Tokyo, if you walk in the same situation you get looked at in the same way (hello…societal RULES!). In fashion, aggression is key. You can’t be left in the dust. But there are still lines that many will be smart not to cross. For example, one form of aggression you’ll OFTEN see in NYC and other fashion weeks is someone who is meant to be standing, will walk in and sit down in someone else’s seat (they think no one is watching, but uh, you busted). I think you get your seat when you deserve one..and sometimes the view is better when standing anyway—fashion people can have big hair and big heads.

ニューヨークと東京の一番大きな違いとはなに？それは図々しさとモチベーションである。例えばそうね…ニューヨークでは赤信号だけど、車が通っていないのに根気よく待っていたらあなたはクレイジーな人と思われる。逆に東京では赤信号なのに渡ってしまったら重大犯罪をしたかのような白い目でみられるでしょ。ファッションでは図々しさもたまには必要なのよ。待っていたら一生上にはのぼれないわ。でもこれだけは忘れないで。Too muchは絶対にだめ。ファッションウィーク中によくこんな人を見かけるの。スタンディングのはずなのに、あたかも自分の席が用意されたかのように図々しく人の席に座るやつ。許せないわ。そんなに必死に座らなくてもいいんじゃない？私はスタンディングだったとしても人の席を盗んだりしないわ。特等席はファッション界のご褒美だと思うの。だからがんばって、がんばって、人に認められてやっと特等席に座れる。私にとってある意味モチベーションの源。

それにファッションピープルはヘアが人の三倍くらい盛ってる人もいるからたまにスタンディングからよく見れたりするしね。みんなは絶対にそんないややつにならないでね。がんばって真っ向勝負でやっていくのよ。笑

But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Like breaking in to a closed show like a badass criminal. For some reason the traffic going uptown midmorning to the official Lincoln Center venue on Wednesday was insane. It was my last show of the week, the final hurrah, and it was the infallible Michael Kors. I NEEDED to be there. It was gonna happen. This stuff always works out… right?! The show would start really late! I knew it! Just for me!

でもやるときはやらなきゃだめよ。ショーが始まり、ゲートが閉められてもプリズンブレイクのようにゲートをくぐり抜かなきゃ行けないときもある。

水曜日の朝の渋滞は人生で一番ひどい渋滞だったかも。SOHOと会場のリンカーンセンターまで45分かかったのよ。普通は15分で行ける距離なのに…

マイケルコースは私が見る一番最後のショーでめっちゃ楽しみにしていたの。年末紅白歌合戦のとりいで歌うアーティストを見る気持ちのように、このショーはぜっっっっっったいに見なきゃいけないの。ショーは私抜きではじまるわけがないと勝手に妄想していた。

It was totally not late. It was pretty on time. I was running from the cab like the Roadrunner on stilts…these heels definitely were NOT meant to be run in. But I had another problem; no physical invitation, no seat number. And there are ONLY like…5 checkpoints for invites. See them all:

全然遅刻なんかじゃないわ。時間どおりで行くんだもん。ボルト選手のようにハイヒールで猛ダッシュをした。でも、もう一つ問題があったの。インビテーションが届いてなくてそもそも一番最初のゲートを突破できるかしら。どきどきしながら走った。

1st level. And the show was already started, with those huge security dudes telling me straight up; “You’re not getting in.”

レベル①：案の定ショーは既に始まっていて、ハルクのように大きい体をしたセキュリティは「お前を通さない」と言ってきたのよ。

Level 2: Oh but hey! You talk, you move, you dash you maneuver. I maneuvered like a pro. Gold medal level.

レベル②：でも私は諦めなかった。隙をみてハイヒールで更に猛ダッシュしてセキュリティを突破してやった。もうどぎまぎしたわ。いろんな意味で。

Level 3: Check in here. Oh! But no invite! And although I was stuck behind everyone else feeling bad, I look to my left and it’s superstylist Kate Lamphear next to me. So I didn’t feel AS bad…

レベル③：自動チェックイン。でも招待状無しじゃ無理やわ。

And then this check in point and TWO more checks after that. This hurdle is HIGH (!!!) それから向こうでまたチェックインして、会場でさらに２回チェックあります。ハードルが高い（！！）

And I actually got to see the show! It was a 180-degree turn from last season which was urban, and this time it’s a jaunt out of the city. Think St Tropez in the early 70s with flowy lounge-wear and girly floral appliques. There were moments of power as well, such as in the tailored suits and leather. This brand is more about lifestyle than wow-ing every season; think of living the life. And I am definitely living it. If it were Michael himself, he would have busted into his own show too. You too, non??

もちろんスタンディングで、色んな頭が私の目の前にいた。せっかく招待して頂いたのに、こんな事態になってしまってマイケルコースジャパンPRチームに大変申し訳なく思っていた。ふと隣を見たら、なんとKate Lamphearではないか。彼女も大遅刻をしたに違いない。ちょっとほっとしたわ。

そんなドラマが永遠に10分間の間に起きた訳だが、肝心なショーはいかがなものかというと。前シーズンとは180度変わって、アーバンでシティっぽいコレクションだった。今回は70代前半のSt Tropez島を思い出してみて（頑張れ！）。ふわっとしたラウンジウェアに女性らしさがある。だけどテラードスーツに強さもある。フローラルのアプリケとアクセントもポイント。マイケルコースガールは芯のある強さが絶対不可欠とコレクションからみられたわ。
