MISHA JANETTE x SOEN x ISETAN “TOKYO KAIHO-KU” POP-UP SHOP!! APRIL 3-9. FEAT. FLEAMADONNA, MOO EYEWEAR, CHLOMA, PLUMB etc.
報告!!装苑 X 伊勢丹の限定ストアで ミーシャジャネットがゲストバイヤーに!4月3日ー9日。Fleamadonna、Roggykei、Moo Eyewear、Chloma、Plumbなど!
Big announcement! I`m talking swirling gaseous VENUS-sized announcement!
I will have a “2.5 Dimension” Pop-up shop with SOEN Magazine at Isetan from April 3-10!!
You the most anoying thing EVER out of the ENTIRE system of fashion is when you want something… like, really want something, and you have the money to purchase it, and the will to purchase it, but you can’t purchase it because it’s just not available where you live. SO FRUSTRATING!!
Well, my pop-up hop carries a lof of brands that are still underground and can’t be found with my selection in Shinjuku.

You may or may not have heard that the stylish department store Isetan has just finished a painstaking remodel of their store, just in time for the Toyoko-Fukutoshin subway merge (so you can go from Yokohama up through Ikebukuro). Along with the remodel, they’ve created some really innovative spaces on the 2nd floor, one of them being a huge space for pop-up shops called “Tokyo Kaiho-ku” (it means “Anything-goes Ward”…Tokyo’s neighborhoods are called wards). Every single week will be a new pop-up shop, and it’s not your usual ones either… I`m talking fringe stuff that would under normal circumstances never come near a department store. Think Jenny Fax, and this week 6%DOKIDOKI.
Starting April 3 for one week SOEN is taking over the Anything-Goes Ward and has invited me and 2 of its top stylists to curate a shop. The other 2 stylists are legends, Yoko Omori (the godmother of forest girl fashion, and casual chic), and Kumiko Ijima, who has worked with a lot of Japanese idols and recently Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. Each one of us has our own taste and are taking over…

For mine, I of course went the “2.5 Dimension” route and focused on Japanese brands like Roggykei, Chloma and King that otherwise would be super difficult to find anywhere near Isetan. There are two foreign brands Moo Eyewear and Fleamadonna, but I feel they really encompass the Tokyo street style so well it didn’t matter to me—-
You can find an example of the pieces in this month’s SOEN that was just released yesterday! I styled one of my favorite local models JUN and she transformed for me.
I want to show you what brands and items that are gonna be available because items are super limited so you’ll want to make a wish list!

fleamadonna (clothing, bags)
Straight from Seoul is Korea’s hottest young designer, Jei Kim with her super cute brand Fleamadonna. There’s gonna be flouncy skirts, the silk reversible jacket, cartoony sea creature blouse and more!

Roggykei (clothing, bags)
This brand hails from Osaka but it might as well come from a space station because their style can’t be pegged to any place in particular. It’s dark, cool, super high-quality and is already making waves in Paris. Their PVC clutch bags are so popular they sell out immediately– I’ve got a collection of them available at my shop FYI! This dress is one of their experimental showpieces—

Chloma (clothing)
This brand is as close to chic otaku fashion you will get. And it’s REALLY HARD TO FIND! The designers used a collage of Japanese chat room memes on oversized sweatshirts and blouses. Also notice the neoprene skirt, which is also made to look oversized. This aesthetic was inspired by old 8bit avatars in video games (the ones with giant heads. I’m looking at YOU princess peach!)
Moo Eyewear (eyewear)
Moo’s sunglasses have only been out for a few seasons since the Thai designer by the same name just graduated from Central St Martins, but they are being found all over the world and selling out like insane. I managed to round up a few pairs from her newest collection. Recently Chinese actress Fay Binbin wore them to a show during fashion week and every pair sold out in China. She takes retro deadstock frames and adds her own original baroque ceramic decorations to them so very cool.

KiNG (accessories, shoes)
KiNg makes accessories unlike anything else I’ve ever seen. Is it urban hiphop? Is it futurism? Think sports wristbands, leather straps wristwatches and Nike Air Force Ones all decked out silver hardware and colored balls. KiNG usually makes hers in neutral colors like white and blue but this time I asked her to add some pink into her ouvre—she also made some crystal and pearl pieces that you won’t find anywhere else! Plus they are a lot less expensive than you’d think. Don’t forget the trend nowadays is to wear a bangels on both wrists so get two!

Coffy (accessories)
Coffy is made by hand by two talented guys here in Tokyo. It’s always leather x beads with a slight tribal taste, but there is an inherent taste within the designs they create with the crystals that makes it easy to spot a coffy ring from a mile away. And the are so affordable! Rings start at only ¥8,000!

Tokone (tights)
Tokone is the result of the huge tights boom in Tokyo, and thanks to it this brand was able to tap a number of artists to design tights. This means more than just illustrators and designers, but they managed to get a music man (who printed record sleeves), a poet (who wrote a poem on the tights) and more. I created a design called “sweet teeth” that actually had silver stuf ribbets all over it! And check out the “essay” tights which are familiar to Japanese because as students they have to write in these vertical blocks in classes as a student. It’s like our lined notebook paper in the west.

Paarty’s
Paarty’s is also a part of a boom, albeit a heady one (like Plumb!). They are a small group of bead and crafts artisans who make the funkiest hat fascinators I’ve seen in a while. Barbie legs attached to a veil, a doll arm on a comb, “smoking lips” and more. The legs one even lights up!
So please stop by ISETAN from April 3 for a week to see the 3 shops— that area is so fun and full of life, you’ll wonder why any department store doesn’t do the same thing! It’s all about making items like this accessible to as many people as possible.
