LEATHER DRESSES ILLUMINATED BY CANDLELIGHT, BRYANBOY AND CHAMPAGNE AT LOEWE SS 2013.

キャンドルの光を照らすレザードレスのアフターはシャンパンとブライアンボーイで続く。ロエベ2013年春夏コレクション。 

The Loewe show was the last show on Saturday night in Paris, and the darkness was used to the show’s advantage set in an old medical university hall that had a huge outside square set alight with hundreds (thousands? Much too cold to dawdle and count) of flickering candles. Of course,  Paris has its romantic moments; the Eiffel Tower at night, walking through St Germain des Pres, eclairs at twilight… but it was a moment like this when the candles were an added bonus to the beautiful inside set that it reminds one of just how amazingly romantic this city is.

そろそろパリコレも佳境の土曜日、その日の夜はLoeweのショーで締めくくられた。会場はメディカルスクールに備え付けられた巨大な庭園にあるホール。この薄暗い灯りの中、何千ものキャンドルが並べられた会場はエッフェル塔が一望できるところに位置し、パリの美味しいとこどりなロマンチックなムードの中ショー行われた。

The Loewe collection was less traditionally romantic and instead saw laser cutting on black sporty dresses in leather. It was all a mix of couture and sporty looks, like the final zip-up jacket in white covered in an intricate pattern of lace and ribbon. There were also dusty colors (just wait until I rant about the southwestern Americana trend) and a hint of gothicism as well. Loewe specializes in leather so it was no surprise that most of the clothing was also various iterations of wardrobe staples in exquisite finishes of hide. I tried to imagine a rich woman thinking to herself as she browsed the store racks, “I could never have too many leather dresses for summer.” 

今シーズンのLoeweは例年にくらべ、トラディショナルでロマンチックな雰囲気はなりを潜め、代わりに登場したのはブラックレザーにレーサーカットを施したスポーティな雰囲気のドレス達。言わばクチュール×スポーティといったところか、ジップアップジャケットには繊細なレースワークとリボンが加えられていた。Loeweの代名詞ともいえるレザーワークを随所に見られ、欧米のリッチマダム達にピッタリの贅沢なコレクションだった。レザードレスの必要な時を想像してみたら、やはりマダムにだけかしら？と。

Afterwards, there was a private cocktail dinner held by the brand at Cafe des Flore where Mamitan and I went to say have a warm-up drink before the afterparties. Designer Stuart Vevers was there as was Elle Japan editor in Chief who chatted up Bryan Boy. “Are you going out tonight?” I asked him. “No, I have stories to write,” He said.  Gasp! A serious blogger. We also talked about “America’s Next Top Model” where he appears alongside Jonte Moaning our Tokyo regular. It was Saturday and there was more to do so Mami and I said adieu to the crowd and stepped out into the very cool(cold) Parisian night. It was about this time I snuck into the Starbucks around the corner for a warm soy latte. I realized how nice a leather dress…or a warm candle…would be to have then.

ショー終わりにCafe des Floreでプライベートカな人達を交えたクテルパーティーも開催され、オフィシャルのアフターパーティーとはまた違った趣を味わうことが出来た。会場ではデザイナーのStuart Veversも来ており、Elleジャパンの編集長とBryan Boyと談笑していた。久々に会ったBryanに夜はどこか出かけるのか聞いたところ、ブログ更新しなきゃいけないから出かけられないとのこと。意外と真面目なのね…そして話題は何故かAmerica’s Next Top Model(アメリカの人気リアリティショー)に。というのも、共通の友人のJonte Moaningが出ているから。そんな調子で時間はあっという間に過ぎ、サタデーナイトが俄かに活気付きだす頃になると少し肌寒くなってきた。あぁ！こういう時にレザードレスがあると便利なんだ！あと、キャンドルもね。
