A high-end, fancy gourmet super rare chocolate Kit Kat? Priced at ¥315 ($3.00) per single one little BAR? And sold at a Kit Kat specialty shop? Only in Tokyo.
キットカットから一本 315円のハイエンドで風変わりな、
I was searching through photos and came across one of a KitKat and it said “Chardonnay” on the box. OHMYGOD is there a chardonnay flavor now?! FINALLY a flavor I would *really* love to buy for discerning friends overseas (*cough* eat myself). But as I looked closer at the photo, I realized it didn’t say “chardonnay”, it said “chocolatory”. Damn!
The chocolatory is actually the world’s first KitKat specialty store, located in Ikebukuro Seibu. It’s aimed at adults, has(only) three flavors, seasonal ones like “sakura cherry blossom green tea” and “spicy chili” flavors, and is overseen by top patissier Yasumasa Takagi.
The piece de resistance here is a single bar called “sublime bitter” made with super high-end couverture chocolate, poured on each wafer layer by hand, and that sold out it’s initial run of 500 pieces on the first day (and they will only rlease 300/day subsequently). Well. There should be more interesting flavors coming soon. I nominate Chardonnay!!

unCOOL JAPAN is a space where I look at the most unique side of Japan, the things that are so uncool, we find it ironically rad (as we do). Beautiful, strange, yummy, new, and only available here. Welcome to Tokyo….
