When it comes to brands that go bi…. doin’ both the ladiez and the menzwear, why is it always like the grass is hotter on the other side?

When looking at the womenswear collection from JLS there seemed to be missing a “punch” (*cough* punny fact: the designer was a pro boxer in his pre-fashion life). And a brief stop over at the menswear side of things is where we see the brand come alive.

There’s often a mix a techno reflective textures with orthodox silhouettes. His tailoring is top-knotch and it should be; he learned it on the “Row”. But despite that, this collection has a bit of an anti-Sullivan vibe, with retro pieces going head to head with a rebellious punk period.

It’s impeccable cutting and unique textiles from JLS that catch the discerning woman (or man’s) eye.  And as for ladies who ask, “why can’t the womenswear look like the mens?” Well girls, it does… it does. Slim tailored jackets and mens slacks don’t lie.

But the menswear here is certainly the star, so if you went out as a Sullivan couple, your boy would be the one turning heads no doubt, With that said, I would totally rock those menswear techno shirts and manteau, gender be damned. Official John Lawrence Sullivan HP

メンズからスタート。今回はイギリス50s-60sのカルチャーをベースに、モッズスタイル、やパンクなどの要素を取り入れて反抗的でエッジの効いたコレクション。

よく見るとシャツにはプリーツが織られていたり、パイピングが施されたライダースやシャツ、シャイニーな素材でコーティングされたウールトップスなどディテールまでよく追求されている。

オリジナルのテキスタイルはどれも革新的でインパクト大！それに、”スリムジャケットにゆるめのスラックス”的な抜け感のあるおしゃれなスタイルってクール！街ではみんな同じような色、同じようなデザインのスーツを着てるけど、もっとこういうクールなもの着て主張してほしい！街にこういう男性が増えたらって想像するとわくわくするよね。

やっぱりメンズから始まったブランドだけあって、メンズラインはデザイナーの真骨頂を示してる。

真っ正面からぶつかっていくパンクロックなメンズより、たまに反骨精神をちらつかせるメンズの方が、逆に女子は”もっと彼のこと知りたい!”なんて興味をそそられるかも？笑

スキンヘッドのモデルが反骨精神ていうキーワードにぴったりで存在感抜群。

一方、レディースはというと…？うーん”あと一押し”って感じがしちゃうかも。メンズがとても印象的で新しい感じがしたからか、メンズと比べてしまうとな…。

どちらかというとメンズと逆で、ゆるめのパンツ、スカートや、足下を全部スニーカーにしたりとか、リラックスムード漂うカジュアルなラインナップ。

もし”ジョンローレンスサリバン カップル”がふたりで今シーズンのサリバンを着てお出かけしたら、きっと彼氏がヘッドターナーになっちゃうね！街の視線は彼氏に集中！メンズはKO取れるくらいパンチ効いてる。やられたぜー。(デザイナーが元ボクサーなだけに！笑)  オフィシャルHP
