I am *actually* shy when it comes to talking about my own work… I haven’t updated my personal portfolio in ages. This blog is the only way I do it, but I like to talk about other people more. But sometimes, when you have a creative brain, it gets frustrating to see others making incredibly cool and inspiring things when you want to do it yourself. So a few months ago I was asked to style a shoot for a creative editorial magazine out of Osaka called “Transparent”. The photographer was one I hadn’t worked with before, but his work was amazing. I was stoked to participate.
First, let me get to the shots.
The shoot is titled “Shaman of Music” and is out now in the 5th issue of the mag. Feast your eyes on these!

This photographer, Yonehara Keitaro, blew me away with his work. I actually saw the below photo on my Facebook stream and was like, “Whoah, I want to work with this guy!!” but I honestly thought he was way out of my league and it would never happen. T_T So how lucky was I when he contacted *me* by coincidence?! Apparently he wanted to work with a new stylist, he found my work, and contacted me! Although his first suggestion was, “Something simple, like Muji-style clothes.” I laughed and said, “Ain’t gonna happen. It needs to be over the top or nothing!”
Seriously, check out Yonehara’s other work. I have never seen a photographer like this in Japan EVER. He employs a lot of post-production, usually involving CG and HDR retouching. And not to mention oil, water, and collaging. Incredible!
So what did you think of “Shaman”? I hope to do more styling when time allows in the future (styling…takes…lots…of…time…not feasible in my current environment! I have done some creative direction and I hope to post those photos soon. Stay tuned!)
