フリーマドンナ2013年秋冬でも反映するソフィアコポラの「ブリングリング」。転落するお嬢さん、若手スター、そして「成れるまでは真似すればいい」
Who doesn’t want to be a famous starlet? What if they are vilified in the eyes of the public, broke, and dirty? Well, too bad for the haters because studies show that once someone is famous they will always be “famous”, no matter what befalls them.
The story for Fleamadonna FW 2013 is actually about a socialite who loses mummy and daddy’s cash flow when the family goes bankrupt, but refuses to let go of what glamour she can. So she wears her mother’s old things mixed in with street clothes and greasy hair with overdone makeup, in a last grasp for the high life. Designer Jei Kim admitted to a few of us media journalists however, that the socialite in her show is inspired by the starlets of Hollywood who have fallen hard. She wouldn’t say *which* starlets, but considering she is in her 20s, I think we might be able to get a good guess in (Japanese doesn’t really plurals so it could have been starlets or *A* starlet. Heh)

It kinda reminds of Sophia Coppola’s new movie “The Bling Ring”, where normal teens try to become closer to fame by breaking in and stealing clothing from real starlets like Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton and Rachel Bilson. So does the dress make the girl? Fake it til you make it? Fab gets fame? In Fleamadonna’s girls’ case, she is using her clothing to project an image that might not be true in reality. Oh fashion, you tricky, fabulous wabbit.
こういうシチュエーションって金曜日アメリカで上映されたソフィアコポラの新作「ブリング・リング」を思い出す。これは事実に基づいた話だけれでも、ハリウッドに住む一般のティーンズがパリスヒルトンやリンジーローハンに憧れ、家に侵入し、洋服などを盗難した話。その芸能人の服を着たって、そのライフスタイルを送れるわけでもないし、有名になれるわけでもない。むこうでよくいう表現 “Fake it til you make it=成れるまでは真似すればいい”というのもある。とてもチープでいんちき臭いけれど、私の回りにだってそうしている猿もいたりする。大きくいうと、「姿勢と洋服だけでイメージを大きく変えることもできる」ということ。Fleamadonnaのストーリーの場合もそんな感じですね。
Jei showed her collection on the runway in Tokyo for the very first time in her career. As in, it was her first time on the catwalk *ever*. She hails from South Korea but has been extremely successful presenting in Tokyo for a couple years now. In fact, her edgy-cum-girlie streetwear has been a leader in the Harajuku fashion scene for some time now, and you can find bad copies of her work all down Takeshita-dori.
And although she has been known for childlike designs for women until now, this collection was surely a midway point to a transition into more chic, high-end client bases. Just look at all of that fur and leather! The high life, indeed!
