BUT, COUTURE. NO DOUBT. ROGGYKEI 2012 SS TOKYO/OSAKA.

大阪拠点のロギーケイの”But クチュール”。2012年春夏コレクション発表。

Let’s just say it how it is: Roggykei is fucking cool.

The Osaka-based brand is kickin’ it orbital style, because they have created for themselves a planet with a distinct style light-years away from anything else on the Japanese market.

The newest collection “But Couture” is for spring/summer 2012 (they don’t release their collections for press ahead of time) and it is of course a continuation of the pop-futuristic taste the brand is getting to be known for. Vinyl, bright colors, asymmetry, accessories as weaponry… it’s a cheeky kind of chic.

まず最初に言わせてほしい。ROGGYKEIは、最高にカッコいいってことを。

大阪を拠点に活動するこのブランドは、設立からまださほど長い年月が経っていないにも関わらずその独特のスタイルで業界の内外からの評判を欲しいままにしてきた。そして注目の最新コレクションとなる2012年春夏の、”バットクチュール”は(ROGGYKEIはそのシーズンが始まる直前まで発表しないのだ)先シーズンに引き続き”ポップなフューチャリズム”を提案している。ビニール、ブライトカラー、アシンメトリー、アクセサリーも。なんともキッチ的にシック。

I say “cheeky” because the two designers, Hitoshi Korogi and Keiko Miyakoshi both are humorous firecrackers themselves and don’t seem to be taking themselves too seriously (Keiko joked about looking like a giant Kapybara when donning a fuzzy Roggykei sweater).

They have a small shop/atelier in Osaka, in a hip area I can only like to the East Village (and not just because there’s a swanky brownstone-style Marc Jacobs shop nearby). You walk through a bistro run by Moroccan expats to get there, and reach their minimalist space that carries new and archived pieces.

この”キッチ”というワードをあえて使ったのは、このブランドのデザイナー２人コオロギヒロシと、ミヤコシケイコがユーモア溢れる人で自分たちのブランドに関しても必要以上にシリアスになるということをしない人だから。(先日撮影でお世話になったとき、自分たちの作ったスウェットを着たミヤコシさんは”巨大なカピバラみたい”とふざけていたしww)彼らが普段活動しているのは、大阪の中でもヒップな、イーストヴィレッジのようなところにある小さなショップ兼アトリエ。モロッコ人が経営するフランス料理屋を通して３回にあがったここには、過去の作品も置かれているのだ。
