Bunka Fashion Graduate University has given release to another class of extremely talented designers, as presented at the graduation show for the design course at the end of January. These designers are competing with the likes of the graduates of the MA course at Central St Martins and more around the world, although it has not yet hit that fever pitch. But even though the graduate course is young at only a few years old, the amount of international enrollees means that it has a great dose of individuality and diverse views which will be crucial to making sure the course breeds successful designers from now and into the future.

Case in point, I was pleased to see the wide array of aesthetics as well. What were the youngest generation of budding designers thinking? A whole lot, especially with shapes and layering. Kitsch and androgyny were also big, but stereotypical high-heels were not. Sneakers and flats everywhere! The details were also fantastic; check out some of the best here and make bets on where we will see them pop up next (some pieces in my closet, hopefully! ).

great article. But this isn’t Japans only MA course in Fashion.
Can you expound Daphne? If there are more schools offering MAs I would love to know. When BFGU opened it was the only graduate school for fashion in Japan, I didn’t know others had opened up in the last couple of years.
