This Michael Kors party actually happened at the end of Fashion’s Night Out but I`m the type of girl to eat her dessert first. And this party was so good it was like sucking on sugarcane.
Held at the American Embassy in Akasaka, all the who’s who of Tokyo fashion people nibbled on canapes and sipped champagne among the Vogue editors under tents in the garden. At the entrance I ran into Anna dello Russo and Bryanboy. I think she’s wearing Balmain, and he’s in Marc Jacobs.

It was an amazing atmosphere…if I may say…electric! Even with the kinda shaky sound system, Jennifer Hudson still managed to warble the most amazing warble I’ve ever heard here.
But you know, I had my eye on the prize….all day…a photo with Anna Wintour. I ran into her numerous times throughout the day but was never able to actually introduce myself. Or show her my nails.
I ran into the guys of Rag & Bone, Marcus and David who I had met when they opened their shop 1 year ago, and they introduced me to Anna’s daughter Bee. She was very lovely. Then, Jennifer finished singing and Anna was ready to go. It was the perfect chance!! NO ONE was there, she was just standing waiting for her people… so I went up to her, said hello, showed her the manicure (but it was dark and she couldn’t see so I had to grab a candle off the table). She seemed impressed, and graciously agreed to her last photo of the night! CLOUD 9, …10,….11 ALERT!!! She even Smiiiiiiiled. Get me down before I float away!!!
But I was firmly grounded when Ai Tominaga came over and she is really one of the sweetest, most genuine souls I’ve met.
She introduced me to Michael Kors, who was in an especially happy mood. I told him about the facebook fan page “What would Michael Kors say?” and he gave me an anecdote for it.
He looked at me and said, “You look like ‘urban tropicalia’”.
Ha! With that, that was it folks, stick a fork in me I was done. It was an incredible day and I could hardly process it. Everything was perfect. So many people on the streets. Looking really really chic! And SO MUCH HAPPENED- so I’ll be putting up reports little by little…Mami-tan must have taken a thousand photos….
FNO should be a national holiday!
