Kotaro Sakazume is an artist who works in the medium of masks. After studying design and pottery, he’s now turning the business of faces into a business of vases. Which….rhymes… and looks amazing as well.
Firstly, check out this artist’s amazing masks, which have garnered him numerous exhibitions and artists who clamor to work with him to paint on his faceless vehicles. He works alone and with the painters and illustrators for works of art worthy of more than just a wall.
His next step is turning his masks into something more reachable and displayable for you and me, and he has created the “facevase” (KAZURA 花面). And one of the designs is available now at Love Letter in Lumine 1 Kitasenjuu or online by contacting him at firstname.lastname@example.org
It was all on display at the ROOMS trade fair and I culdn’t stop just staring at all of the facevases. I couldn’t not go home with one, but I don’t have room on my walls so I opted for an actual mask, one that looks like a hand cupping the face. Now that he’s on my radar, I can’t wait to see some more masks and mask products that do more than cover up. Make your life a little more mysterious with them…
