During an interview, a reader commented, “You mostly talk about cute, sweet things on your blog, right?”
Oh, man! And here I thought I was poisoning the interwebs with shock and “WTF”s through all of the avant-garde posts I put up. I guess I am going to have to try a bit harder!
Alright then suckas, here’s one: bloody bugs, flowers and a beating heart….all made of chocolate! Yum!
They come courtesy of the cool mind of Aguri Sagimori, a young designer who often hoses down the peppiness of Tokyo Fashion Week with her dark and moody collections. (Read more about Aguri and her fashion collections here )
She made this chocolate collection as a special project, and put some heavy-duty thought into each piece; the inside of the eyeballs and giant caterpillars are framboise, and each petal from the roses hide a different flavor. The “glass” pieces are crunchy inside, too.
Just let it be known that you’re not going to be getting the good protein like if you were eating REAL bugs… *cough*.
The chocolates came with a menu, where everything had a theme of “tears”. One was “the tears for having no freedom” and “the tears of yearning” which were expressed in the caterpillars=butterfly being born, and then the butterfly laying in death. This chocolate is DEEP, can you handle it?
I bet the bloody heart is actually very tasty. The letters are made of chocolate and black pepper though…that will bring REAL tears to your eyes!
Aguri also presented her collection of 2013 SS accessories and couture stationery made of pages from old books she has collected along with her illustrations. The clear accessories with studs are also made to reflect the theme of “tears”. Both the accessories and paper work are wicked!!
And finally, it seems Aguri is venturing into menswear– here are some of her pieces she presented for ss spring/summer.
One more time! Mmmm….chocolate eyeballs for lunch?
