There’s no way I can’t NOT talk about the S-Cawaii makeup book that shows just how much the dokumo girls’ faces change with heavyduty makeup. The most famous girl for this now is Ayano Saito and the transformation is just incredible:
I mean…. WHOAH! Is there anybody who wouldn’t be so shocked as to how much she changed?!
I find it fascinating and it makes me want to buy this mook…no judging! Hey, if we can’t all be Angelababy then makeup will have to do.
I find it interesting that the two items that changed her the most in the tutorial were the contacts and the eye tape. I can’t imagine anyone in the west getting away with wearing these things without getting major shit for it from friends, families, and coworkers.
It reminds me of when studying at Bunka we went on a little stay-over field trip and the only thing anyone could talk about was how different the girls looked “suppin” or bare-faced.
And some looked VERY different, like night and day.
These girls in the S-Cawaii mook are self taught makeup experts, much like the youtubers. But the techniques and parts of the face they play up and down are so different from the west. Did you know Japanese people don’t consider sharp cheekbones a necessity for beauty?! They just don’t care about cheekbones like the west—- instead its the chin, eyes and nose.
Alright, I’m sold. And..slow clap to Asia for letting it proliferate. Gonna pick this up ASAP. But wait, I`m not a gyaru! Someone put out an equally transforming chic makeup tutorial! (Or point me in the right direction!)
