Attending a Comme des Garcons exhibit in tokyo is the gift that keeps on giving because you could be there all day and not see everything. There are always a million pieces to sift through, the next more incredible and surprising than the last. Even better, while the Cdg pieces lend themselves very well to the runway in its avant-garde glory, seeing the clothing up close…actually being able to *inspect* them, is a privilege. It’s a reminder that this isn’t a museum, this is fashion, and all of the fashionable buyers wearing head to toe CdG as they make their orders is testament to that.
The CDG main line. Check out the details and may your heart be still:
Another line that is not reported on much but is equally incredible is the Tricot Special line. It’s an offshoot of the main Tricot line, it this one is….well, special. It’s colorful, punk, experimental, and of so yummy. I fell in love with the wrap skirt covered in chains. So kawaii gothic!
Comparing it to the same 2013 FW collection from the Tricot main line, you’ll see the obvious difference. I am definitely a fan of the “Special” line.
By the way, CDG is VERY busy these days in Japan, opening up pop-up shops and new stores in far-flung locales like Osaka and Sendai left and right. I feel like I’m getting a new notice from them every single day! Considering they were like the mute weird sister before, I have to wonder if we’re being trolled. Hah.
