漫画って本当におしゃれなもんかしら？木村カエラ+おしゃれなアニメイラスト in NYLON誌で探ってみた。
There’s nothing better than fashion meeting art, but it sometimes gets a bit overwrought. That’s why I love the illustrations by Przemek Sobocki so much because his work doen’t take itself too seriously. It wants to be your friend, not hold you captive, and he captures the spunky Tokyo pop scenery so well too. So when his newest work came across my desk on Friday I knew I had to share it.
He is a Tokyo-based illustrator (and has been here as long as I can remember…so at least 7 years?!) so he got picked up by NYLON Japan magazine to take part in a monthly column by Kimura⇆Kaela. Kaela is a half British/Japanese singer/songwriter and she is thus far the reigning queen of quirk in the current generation of Japanese pop-culture. For this NYLON issue she had photographer Maciej Kucia shoot her while P-chan (the nickname I made him take >_< Sorry!!) turned her into an achingly fashionable anime character.
The great thing is how well it’s done. Do you not WANT her Moo P. glasses as much as I do?!?

I purchased one of his prints for my apartment recently and hung in my genkan (entranceway) and it’s been getting some great reception. Of course it is one that he drew of me (um, yeah! He put me sitting next to Hamish Bowles! Brilliant.).
Here is some more of his recent work:
